What are Midwest Rakes?

Midwest Rakes is an American company founded in 1972. They specialise in coating tools and are trusted by coatings experts around the globe. They offer a range of tools such as squeegees, spiked rollers, trowels and rakes, which are used for applying coatings such as screed.

What is a cam gauge screed rake?

A cam gauge screed rake is a large rake that evenly distributes screed on a bigger scale. They do the work of a screed trowel but quicker and less labour intensive which is all the more reason to invest in a cam gauge screed rake. The cam gauge screed rake enables a precise and uniform depth of application. The addition of the radial dial cam design is perfect for ensuring the thickness is even throughout the spreading process, regardless of the angles it is being held at.

Why should I use a screed rake?

Screed rakes are great for bigger jobs as they cover a larger surface area, saving you time and money. They also offer a more accurate and uniformed leveling ability, meaning the job will be completed professionally with little effort.

How does a cam gauge work?

A cam gauge is attached to the sides of the rake that is interchangeable to the desired level. When screeding on uneven surfaces, using a cam gauge will ensure the screed is level by adjusting each side of the rake. We have a variety of cams here at Floormart to suit everyone's needs. Shop here.

What size screed rake should I choose?

The cam gauge screed rake comes in multiple sizes. The most popular size being the standard 24-inch rake. The ideal size to use in the flooring industry. It also comes in a smaller size of 12 inches, which is perfect to use in smaller spaces and domestic jobs. The smaller rake is ideal for getting a concentrated spread into a reduced area. Finally, the larger options are the 48-inch rake and the 36-inch rake which is better suited to commercial spaces which require a wider spread of screed.
